Challenges & solutions: This section of our gardens is easy to care for, with the exception of some insect damage to our highbush cranberry shrubs by an unidentified insect larva. Catching this damage early (usually begins in late spring) is helpful. We try to eliminate these insects by using a soapy water spray and by picking off as many as we can on the underside of the leaf, on a daily basis. When there is a lot of damage to a leaf, we clip it off. We also trim away any straggly branches that are points of contact with the ground so these insects have fewer spots to climb.
